This way of traveling has now received new recognition: the Emilia tourist destination has earned GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) certification, one of the leading international standards for sustainable tourism.
Covering over 8,300 km², the provinces of Parma, Piacenza, and Reggio Emilia form the largest GSTC-certified destination in the Western world. This region stretches from the floodplains of the Great River to the ridges of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, passing through cities of art, castles, and rural landscapes. It is also home to two UNESCO MaB Biosphere Reserves: the Po Grande and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines.
